INKA TRAIL 4 DAYS
TRAVEL ITINERARY
1st DAY – CUSCO – KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA
In the morning we start from the city of Cusco 3350m, by tourist bus. On the way we will observe extensive fields of culture and important towns that despite the years still maintain their traditions and customs, surrounded by imposing mountains and glaciers. We enter the Sacred Valley of the Incas towards the kilometer 82, where we have the meeting of the whole group before we can start the excursion on the classic Inca Trail. Miskay community, will be the lunch spot and shortly have the explanation of the archaeological complex of Llactapata. . The entire walk will take us approximately 6 hours (a total of 13 kilometers) to reach the first campsite in Wayllabamba (3,000 m / 9,843 ft).
2nd. DAY WAYLLABAMBA- PACAYMAYU
Today the biggest challenge awaits us: 11 kilometers (6.84 miles) ascending to cross 2 very high passes, including Warmi WaƱusca, with 4,200 m.s. (13,779 ft). That is the highest point of the trek, which we will cross breathing with difficulty and surprised by the breathtaking panoramic views of two mountains and snowcapped mountains, and the beautiful semi-tropical valley. We will camp in Pacay Mayu (3,600 m / 11,811 ft).
3rd DIA PACAY MAYU – WIĆAYHUAYNA
Today we will walk 16 kilometers, but most of the route is flat and with many descents, then this day is quieter. We observe how the geography changes, from dry and mountainous, to green and semi-tropical (jungle edge). The hike includes the view of the archaeological site of Runkurakay (3,800 m / 12,467 ft) and Sayac Marca (3600 m / 11,811 ft). On the way we visited the archaeological site of Phuyu Pata Marca – “Pueblo del Nivel de Neblinas” in the Quechua native language (3,665 m / 12,024 ft), until finally arriving at WiƱay Wayna (2,700 m / 8,858 ft) where we will install our last camp of the walk.
4th WIĆAYHUAYNA DAY – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
After breakfast, very early, we went to Inti Punku (The Sun Gate), the entrance to the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu (2,490 m / 8,169 ft). From this point it is an unforgettable experience after descending we will travel this magical place and we will have a guided tour approximately 2 1/2 hours followed by a free time to enjoy this new wonder of the world independently or visit Wayna Picchu with its Temple of the Moon (no is included in the tour). Then we went down by bus to Aguas Calientes (2,160 m / 7,087 ft) to have lunch. Then we can visit the thermal baths of the town (the entrance fee of 10 Soles is not included in the tour). In the afternoon we will take a train to Poroy where our driver will wait for us with a private vehicle to take us back to our hotel in Cusco (arrival at night).
