Manu Cultural Zone: A Journey Through the Cloud Forest

Departing from Cusco, we embark on a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley and ascend into the highland landscapes before descending into the cloud forest. Along the way, we’ll stop at Paucartambo, a charming colonial town with a rich history. The journey continues into the misty forests, where we’ll have our first encounters with colorful birds, playful monkeys, and lush vegetation. By afternoon, we arrive in Pilcopata, where we settle into our eco-lodge. Enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the jungle.

After breakfast, we take a short drive to Atalaya, the main port to the Amazon lowlands. Here, we board a motorized canoe and navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River, spotting capybaras, caimans, and exotic birds along the way. A nature walk leads us to Machuwasi Lake, a serene body of water home to the fascinating hoatzin birds. We return to our lodge in the evening for a night walk, searching for nocturnal wildlife.

An early morning departure takes us to a parrot clay lick, where dozens of parrots and macaws gather to consume mineral-rich clay—a stunning natural spectacle. After this unforgettable experience, we enjoy breakfast and begin our return journey through the cloud forest, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. By late afternoon, we arrive back in Cusco, concluding our adventure.
